Oh Mr. Moon.
There was a big ol' fat moon on my way home tonight so I busted a move to get the camera. Barring a few exposure issues, I still thought it was pretty cool....but not as cool as old Persied (you'll have to dig through the archives at right for comparison shopping).

Wood floor rocks!
Many of you know that Ryan has been building a house (well his really great, phenomenal builder has been helping *ahem*) and he's asked for help on random occasions so I signed up when the wood floor installation team option came up. I thought learning how to use a chain saw rocked, but I've realized if this education thing doesn't work out, I'm going to become a wood floor installer. See what two photographers, a recruiter and a retired dad can accomplish in one short...ok, really long...day?
Kevin and Ryan get the OK from Layla that the floor is good so far.

I think if photography doesn't work out for Ryan, he can definitely join my wood floor installation team. Two real carpenters even said we did a good job!

Ella and Layla had to get on with their nap so Dad made sure to shake up old Layla's lunch before depositing her with the mama.

Almost there...the final board went in not too long after this picture at roughly 11 p.m. I'd have to say it really is satisfying to complete a project like that.

Girls weekend gone crazy
Well four of us headed to a girls weekend just outside of Gladwin and lo and behold the place we stayed at also had an adventure course and Jenny happened to ask if they would open it up for us...and viola! So I, Kristy, who has said in the past she would never jump out of airplane...that I would have to be pushed...because I would never knowingly leap out of the plane itself. Well I thought those same things standing on a platform 70 feet off the ground about to leap into the great unknown anchored to a zip cord. They guy told me to just sit on the edge and just ease into it....sheeeayaah, right....so I ran and leaped off like a lunatic. Screaming the entire way...it was fantastic.
Then Jenny and I said we'd also give the "Giant Swing" a try. Sounds all nice and sweet right? WRONG? Terror swept into my heart as they yelled from 43 feet below "SWING ON" and my shaky hand reached out and realized all the separated me from certain death was a very small thread. The zip cord was nothing compared to hurtling through space towards the river on the giant swing. More screaming. Ten hours later, my blood pressure is still not in the right zone. Soooooo, when do we go back?
This would be Jenny having just leaped off the platform...

That would be me on my 1100 foot journey to that bunk house waaaaaay off in the distance.

Jenny at the 43 foot top of the giant swing about to let go.

Jenny in a wide swing over the river...not plunging to certain death.

Old Jenny overexposed all the photos of me on the giant swing...see I told you the photographer should never the subject! If only sound went along with this - you would be assured a good chuckle.

We rock.
Every year DU has some kind of hysterical video at our convocation in Grand Rapids where the staff are the stars. This is all of the tri-city staff that was there that day. All we were told was to "come to Warren and pick a song and feel free to dress the part." It's all very secret and we didn't really know what we were a part of until we saw it all put together. Well for those of you that know me, you know the pleather pants are always screaming for use and of course who am I to deny them? So out they came, along with a great fro and just wait until you see the video...it was a taping of "DU Idol". I might not get a copy of it for a few weeks yet but I swear I'll you tube it for posting on the blog. I'm going on the road baby, outta my way!!

Roaming through September
Holy moly, October starts tomorrow! I've been a huge posting slacker but here is a pretty quick glance at all the fun that was packed into September...
Starting with Angi and Scott...I took their family photos today and in between shots I caught mama and boy snuggling up. I told you people I'm a sucker for cute kid shots.

We had a Saturday morning visit to a little place in Auburn where kids can run through the corn maze, play in the corn, feed the animals and have all sorts of outside fun. Carter did not go from the corn vat quietly.

There were a couple trips up north...Jenny introduced Ethan to the joys of fishing. We picked the one freezing weekend in September to head north but it wasn't too bad.

There is a playground near the beach up there and I have these same pictures of me when I was little on this same swing. I'll have to see if I can dig them out to post here and give you some chuckles.

I love it when the lake is like glass.

My grandfather took Jenny and Jeff fishing...and Carter was none too impressed with the catch.

Ah, a man of many faces...I got these all in about three minutes. I like the one in the middle left: "you talkin' to me?!"

I. love. corn.

We took great pleasure in running the energy out of the boys by taking walks around the lake. When they'd get unruly you can always count on ChaCha to start a rousing rendition of "the ants go marching"...and so it happened that I turned around and found Carter indeed "marching".

We were going to do an experiment to change this lovely flower to another shade of color...but the discovery of a squished snake in the road broke it in two. Oh well.

This is why I love fall.

Wedding preview!!
I was told that I wouldn't be able to set foot inside of work on Tuesday if I didn't have some pictures of Kim's wedding posted. So here are some quick ones that I just shuffled through. Without further adieu...Kim and Don, Sept 1, 2007...

The wedding thugs...(and yes, photographer friends...I know exactly what's wrong with this picture but I couldn't resist a good bride/groom thug picture.)

Great weather, great place, great everything!

Kim and Frank-O-Rama. Frankie (he's almost four) instructed me to stop taking so many pictures on several occasions throughout the night.

The table setting was gorgeous - everyone had an individual cake (believe it or not those blue boxes are actually cakes)...and it was yuuuuummy.

You'll notice the groom is not in this frame...the look should speak for itself and why he needed a quick departure.
