Lunar eclipse....sort of

Had I not owned the worlds crappiest tripod that won't support "the big lens" I probably could have done better. By the time the moon would have been in my frame, the clouds came. DOH! I'm off to the tripod store....

Up north.

It's a sad thing when the second time you can get "up north" during a whole summer is August 25th. Jenny, the boys and I had a good time just chillin at the cabin. Late Saturday evening the moon was spectacular over the lake. I wasn't quick enough to get to the camera for the big moon with the sunset colors...the moon was very bright making it look like rather light out.

The boys banging out a tune on Nana Sue's piano. The racket tends to cut through the relaxing up north silence but hey, they're cute so who could argue?

A completely unprompted big brother hand holding event during our walk around the lake.

Old Carter got up on the bench all by himself...the daredevil in him is still alive and kicking eventhough the day before he had a spectacular crash backwards that landed him with chin cut that left us pondering the need for stitches. The good thing about having a close knit up-north community is that frequently you can always rustle up a doctor for a vacation consult. No stiches needed. :)

What summer is supposed to be about...a walk around the like with a cute boy.

Game Night

We needed some adult boozing after a long day at Thomas and some friends from North Carolina came up so we threw together a party evening. You know you've had a good time when you've laughed so hard someone at the table utters the phrase "i think i might have peed a little". Just ask DDrae to show you how to charade "Prez Bush" and you might end up on the floor crying too. Most of these photos are out of focus because I was laughing too dang hard to keep it still. Kudos to Don for bringing the "Celebrity" game to the Rauscherts. I couldn't resist giggling just looking at the pictures...

This would be Stephanie...SEVEN MONTHS PREGNANT. So it's a huge congratulations to old Stephanie-Broke-A-Plate and her luva John who are bakin' up a little girl. And yes, there were murmurs of throwing things at this seven-months-pregnant-and-still-really-skinny-girl. :)

See the GW Bush reference above. I think the two pictures on the right reference GWB...it's been a long time since I laughed that hard.

Misty and KimZ plotting their strategy...

That's KimZ thinking they'd better get back to plotting more strategy....

Believe it or not this was a reference to being dead. C'mon didn't you get it?

Go Don go!

Jeff at his charading best...

Sorry boys, she's taken. (haha! Misty -that's for putting scary pictures on your blog!) :)

There's two, there's four, there's six....

Exactly when I traded a Day Out with Thomas the Tank Engine instead of a sloppy day of canoeing the rifle river, I'll never know. Last Friday we headed off for a day out with Thomas and the theme song is STILL running through my brain. If you want to hear it, just ask and I can belt you out a rousing verse of it. :) Here are some shots from the day (they should give the adults "shots" on the way in). haha!

Ethan waving to the crowd as Thomas gave us a ride through the countryside.

Wanna see my tat?

I've never in my life been on a carousel...this one went about 50 MPH and I realized when you look through the peephole of a camera while going 50 MPH in a circle...it kind of makes you want to barf. Carter hung on so tight I'm pretty sure he left fingerprints in the metal.

Bye Thomas!

Meredith Ellen

Many of you have heard of the "Detroit Friends"...this little bundle o' love belongs to them. Christy (the momma) is an old friend from CMU days and I finally made it down there to take some shots of the little luva. Scott (the daddy) was out of town so it was a girls weekend of relaxation...and I'm sure the both of them would appreciate it if I cleared this little detail up...they don't live in Detroit....they live in Berkley. Sheesh. :)

Me and old Perseid

Welcome to the view from the country...sometimes living in the sticks pays off. This camera has taught me patience. A lot of it (did you see the icicles from last winter?!?). Do you know how long you have to wait to get a photo of meteor? A looooonnnng time. The Perseid meteor shower peaked last night and I was determined to get a photo of it somewhere. There was one fantastic one that was so bright I had to wince...if only the camera was just a liiittle more to the left. Doh. Maybe tonight I'll try one more time...

And yes, I have lots other posts but I'm still working on them! So just hold your horses! :)
